Geo Tracker GPS tracker
Concerning Geo Tracker Record gps tracks of your trips, analyze statistics and share with friends!
This is the app for you if you want a great GPS tracker that works with Open Street Maps or Google, enjoy traveling, and enjoy outdoor activities. Analyze statistics, record GPS tracks of your trips, and share them with your friends! Geo Tracker can help:
• Returning to an unfamiliar location without becoming lost; • Sharing your route with friends;
• Using a route from a GPX, KML, or KMZ file from someone else; • jotting down significant or interesting points along the way; • Locating a point on the map, if you know its coordinates;
• On social media, posting colorful screenshots of your accomplishments. The application lets you look at the tracks and the area around them with a scheme from OSM or Google, as well as satellite images from Google or Mapbox. This ensures that you will always have the most accurate map of the area anywhere in the world. The areas of the map that you view are saved to your phone and can be accessed offline for some time (this works best with Mapbox's satellite images and OSM maps). To record and calculate track statistics only a GPS signal is needed - the Internet is only required to download map images.
You can activate the navigation mode while driving, which greatly simplifies navigation by causing the map to automatically rotate in the desired direction. The application can record tracks while being in the background (on many devices, this requires additional configuration in the system - be careful! The instructions for these settings are available in the application). In background mode, power consumption is greatly reduced; on average, the phone can record for an entire day on a single charge. Additionally, there is an economy mode that can be activated in the app's settings. Geo Tracker calculates the following statistics:
• Recording the travel distance and time; • The speed on the track's maximum and average; • Time and average speed in motion;
• The difference between the track's minimum and maximum altitudes; • Vertical distance, ascent and speed;
• Min, max, and average slope.
Additionally, detailed speed and elevation charts are available. Recorded tracks can be stored as GPX, KML, and KMZ files, so they can be used in other well-known applications like Google Earth or Ozi Explorer. Tracks are not sent to any servers; they are kept locally on your device. Ads or personal data do not generate revenue for the app. In the application, a voluntary donation can be made to support the project's development. Tips and tricks to help you fix common GPS issues on your smartphone: • If you start the tracking please wait a bit until the GPS signal is found.
• Before you begin, restart your smartphone and ensure that you have a "clear view" of the sky (no distracting objects like tall buildings, forests, or the like). • The reception conditions are permanently changing because they are influenced by the following factors: weather, season, positioning of satellites, areas with bad GPS coverage, high buildings, forests, etc.).
• Select "Location" from the phone settings menu and turn it on. • Go to phone settings, choose "Date & time" and activate the following options: "Automatic date & time" and "Automatic time zone". If your smartphone is set to the wrong time zone, it may take longer to locate the GPS signal. • Go to the settings on your phone and turn off the airplane mode. If none of these tips & tricks helped to solve your issues, deinstall the app and reinstall it again.
Be aware that Google uses in their Google Maps app not only the GPS data but also additional data of the current location from surrounding WLAN networks and/or mobile networks.
